
Nuanced interpretations, dynamic energy, and a charismatic stage presence are hallmarks of Cuban conductor Jessica Rivero Altarriba. Praised for her communicative skills and impactful performances, and equally committed to both established repertoire and contemporary compositions, she currently serves as Assistant Conductor of the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera (2024-2026) and is a Taki Alsop Fellowship Award recipient (2024-2026). She was the first Colton Conducting Fellow of the New Jersey Symphony in 2023-2024. Altarriba completed her master’s degree in Conducting at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in 2025.
Her recent engagements include performances with the Utah Symphony, YOLA National Orchestra as guest conductor collaborating with Gustavo Dudamel, the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, the Lüneburg Symphoniker (Germany), the New Jersey Symphony, the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, the NOI Institute Orchestra, the National Seminario Orchestra at Ravinia, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She has also appeared with Spain’s Málaga Camerata, the Virtuós Mediterrani Orchestra, and professional orchestras in Cuba such as the Holguín Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Symphony Orchestra, Camagüey Symphony Orchestra, Youth Symphony E. Salas, Philharmonic of the University of the Arts, Chamber Orchestra of the National School of Art, Amadeo Roldán Orchestra, Lyceum Mozartiano Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the University of the Arts, and the Esteban Salas Symphony Orchestra. Of note is her performance with the Havana-Martín Camerata, where she conducted incidental music for the national premiere of Phantom of the Opera.
Altarriba’s festival credits include the NOI Festival, the Ravinia Festival, and the YOLA National Festival in the United States.
