Aline Sam-Giao chose to dedicate her career to the arts after discovering the world of orchestras through her amateur practice.
After graduating from Sciences Po Paris and Sussex University (UK), Aline started her career in Paris, working as fundraising officer for the Royaumont Foundation and as General Manager of the baroque ensemble Le Poème Harmonique. After relocating to the Alps region in 2005, she worked for the Berlioz Festival and went on to become Managing Director of the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie.
In 2017, Aline was appointed by the French Minister of Culture and the Mayor of Lyon as Executive Director of the Auditorium and Orchestre national de Lyon. In this role, she manages a 2000-seat concert hall and a 104-musician orchestra, which regularly tours internationally.
Additionally, Aline has always actively participated in professional associations and networks, advocating for favorable cultural policies at the national and European levels. She is currently Vice President of the national employers’ association for French orchestras and opera houses.
Aline is a recipient of the ’Arts et Lettres’ award, which she received in 2015.
