Maria Kurochkina graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2020. She holds a master’s degree in symphonic conducting from the classes of G. Rozhdestvensky and I. Dronov and she conducted many performances of the Conservatory orchestras. She also served as Assistant Conductor of the Slobodkin Centre Chamber Orchestra, and the Moscow Conservatory Opera Theatre.

Maria participated in conducting masterclasses in London, Moscow and Perm with noted conductors Marin Alsop, Vasily Petrenko, Vasily Sinaisky, Yuri Temirkanov, Teodor Currentzis and others. She was an active participant in the International Diaghilev Festival in Perm (2018 and 2019), and staged and conducted the world premiere of Ramazan Yunusov’s chamber opera “Steps” for the International Diaghilev in 2019. In 2021 Maria has become a Fellow of Cabrillo Festival’s Conductor Workshop.
