I have often been the only woman in conducting competition juries. Even if I shared warm and friendly moments with many of my jury colleagues, I also unfortunately encountered – even recently – patronizing attitudes and even hostility from other male conductors.

For this very first edition of La Maestra competition, we are honoured to receive Deborah Borda, General Manager of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, as the President of the Jury.
