Among the leading classical music executives of his generation, Benjamin Schwartz has held key artistic positions with major orchestras and festivals in the United States, Japan, Australia, and Germany. He currently oversees the artistic planning of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (BRSO), working in close collaboration with its Chief Conductor, Sir Simon Rattle.

Before joining the BRSO at the invitation of the late Mariss Jansons, Benjamin Schwartz served as Director of Artistic Planning for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra under David Robertson, and as Artistic Administrator of the Saito Kinen Festival, where he worked closely with Seiji Ozawa. He began his administrative career as Assistant Artistic Administrator of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

A former professional cellist, Benjamin Schwartz has collaborated extensively with a broad range of distinguished composers, leading to numerous premiere performances and recordings of new chamber and solo works. He has served as a juror for international instrumental, vocal, and conducting competitions, as well as for various fellowship and scholarship programs.

Benjamin Schwartz earned his diploma in cello performance with distinction from the Vienna Conservatory and his Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, after completing undergraduate studies in French literature at the University of Notre Dame.
