Originally from Latvia, Vineta Sareika began her violin studies at the age of 5 in her hometown Jurmala. She studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris with Gérard Poulet and at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Augustin Dumay. After being named laureate of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in 2009, Vineta Sareika began a multifaceted career spanning a wide range of activities.
She regularly performs as a soloist with major european orchestras, has been concertmaster of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic (today Antwerp Symphony Orchestra) and primaria of the Artemis Quartet since 2012. Her recordings with the Artemis Quartet but also with the Dali Trio and her long-time stage partner, pianist Amandine Savary, have been acclaimed by the press (Echo Klassik, Diapason d’Or, Choc de l’Année by Classica, Editor’s Choice by Gramophone).
From 2023 untill 2025 Vineta Sareika has been the first concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, being the first woman to hold this position since the founding of the orchestra.
In addition to her concert activities Vineta teaches chamber music at the Berlin University of the Arts and gives masterclasses. She plays a violin by Antonio Stradivari (1683), generously on loan to her by the Ruggieri Foundation.
